Pantone unveils 2019 Colour Of The Year Is Living Coral

This year, the Pantone Colour Institute announces which hue is to be bestowed with the grand honour of becoming Colour of the Year for the approaching 12 months.

Every year, this December, Pantone revealed that the chosen shade would be ‘Living Coral.’

For anyone in any doubt, ‘living coral’ is said to be a pink-orange coral shade but with golden undertones, giving it a warmth and depth not always found in cooler coral colours

Pantone has described living coral as ‘playful’ and representative of our ‘innate need for optimism’ which certainly seems to be true after a year of particularly savage news items (ahem, Brexit…Trump, we’re looking at you.)

Examples of Living Coral on the Spring/Summer 2019 runways include Marc Jacobs’ frothy, fluffy living coral coats and corsages, oh and the lovely living coral hair dye as captured backstage.
